Financial
Health Savings Account (HSA)
Set aside tax-free dollars to pay for eligible health care costs or save and invest it for the future.
You’re eligible to contribute to an HSA if you:
- Are enrolled in the HDHP 1 or HDHP 2 medical plan.
- Are not covered by another medical plan that is not an HDHP.
- Are not entitled to Medicare benefits.
- Cannot be claimed as a dependent on someone else's tax return.
An HSA lets you set aside pre-tax money for health expenses, with a triple tax advantage:
- Your contributions are made pre-tax.
- Unused funds grow and earn interest over time, tax-free.
- Withdrawals for qualified medical expenses, including dental and vision, are tax-free, even in retirement.
And unlike a flexible spending account (FSA), the money in your HSA is always yours. Unused money rolls over year to year, and your HSA goes with you if you leave the company or retire.
Contribution limits
For 2027, you can contribute up to:
- $4,500 for individual coverage
- $9,000 if you cover dependents.
- Moneta’s contribution counts toward these limits.
- If you are 55 or older, you can add a $1,000 catch-up contribution.
Eligible expenses
You can use the HSA to pay medical, dental, vision, and prescription expenses for you and your eligible family members. Reimbursement is limited to your current balance.
How to enroll
IMPORTANT: For 2027, Moneta is sponsoring HSAs through Lively and contributing to your account.
If you enroll in HDHP 1 or HDHP 2 for 2027, elect your HSA contribution in ADP during Open Enrollment. You won’t open your Lively account during Open Enrollment; Lively will email you instructions in early December, after enrollment closes. Once your account is open, you’ll receive Moneta’s contribution: up to $500 a year for individual coverage ($20.83 per pay period) or up to $1,000 a year for family coverage ($41.67 per pay period). Moneta also pays the monthly Lively account fee while you work here. See the 2027 Lively HSA Quick Start Guide to get started.
You can keep an HSA you already have somewhere else, but Moneta’s contribution and your future payroll contributions only go into Lively. See 2027 Open Enrollment for how to move an existing balance.
Through December 31, 2026: Moneta does not sponsor an HSA. If you are enrolled in an HDHP, you use your own HSA through the custodian you chose. Questions about payroll deductions go to Payroll@monetagroup.com.
